Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), Bhopal has officially released the detailed Rulebook for the Subedar (Secretarial)-Stenographer and Assistant Sub Inspector (Secretarial) Direct Recruitment Selection Examination 2026 under the Madhya Pradesh Police Department. This recruitment drive covers a total of 655 vacancies distributed across six distinct post codes and ministerial cadres within the state police force.

The online application window will open on 24 September 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their forms online until 08 October 2026. An application correction facility will also be available from 24 September through 13 October 2026 to rectify any errors in demographic or educational data. Candidates applying for the Subedar (Secretarial)-Stenographer position can opt for deployment in either the General Branch, which has 125 vacancies, or the Special Branch, which has 10 vacancies. In accordance with state service regulations, selected candidates undergo a mandatory three-year probation period. During the first three years of service, remuneration is released on a staged progression basis corresponding to 70%, 80%, and 90% of the minimum basic pay scale for the first, second, and third years respectively, along with full government-approved Dearness Allowance (DA) and other departmental allowances. On successful completion of the probation period, full regular pay scale benefits become applicable.

Educational and Technical Qualification Requirements

Because these are specialized secretarial and clerical positions within the police establishment, general academic qualifications must be paired with verified technical certifications.

For the Subedar (Secretarial)-Stenographer post, applicants must have completed Higher Secondary (10+2) education from a recognized education board. On the technical side, candidates must possess a valid Computer Proficiency Certification Test (CPCT) scorecard with passing marks in Hindi typing, hold a Hindi shorthand speed certificate of at least 100 words per minute (wpm) from a recognized institution, and have completed a recognized one-year computer diploma such as DOEACC, COPA, or Modern Office Management.

For the Assistant Sub Inspector (Secretarial) post, candidates are required to have passed 12th / Higher Secondary education. A valid CPCT scorecard with Hindi typing is compulsory. The rulebook accepts various higher computer qualifications in lieu of a standard diploma, including degree courses in Engineering, MCA, BCA, M.Sc. in Computer Science or Information Technology, and AICTE-approved polytechnic diplomas.

Age Limit and Domicile Conditions

The age limit is calculated with reference to the closing date of the application window, which is 08 October 2026. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age on the reference date.

For unreserved male applicants residing in Madhya Pradesh, male candidates from the EWS category, and all candidates (both male and female) from other states, the maximum age ceiling is 33 years. Female applicants belonging to all categories, as well as reserved category male applicants (SC, ST, and OBC) with valid MP domicile, are entitled to a relaxed upper age limit of 38 years. Government employees serving in autonomous bodies or public sector boards also receive age relaxation up to 38 years. Candidates applying from states other than Madhya Pradesh are treated under the Unreserved Open category. They must compete solely for open-category vacancies and are not entitled to reservation quotas or state-specific age relaxations.

Physical Measurement Standards

Although these positions are secretarial and office-oriented, candidates must meet the baseline physical height requirements prescribed for MP Police personnel. The minimum required height for male candidates is 162 cm, while female candidates must measure at least 152 cm.

Two-Stage Selection Architecture and Exam Pattern

Stage 2: Practical Skill Examination (100 Marks, Minimum Qualifying: 30 Marks)

The practical examination is tailored specifically to the technical requirements of each cadre. Candidates must secure at least 30% marks in the practical test to remain eligible for final selection.

For the Subedar (Secretarial)-Stenographer post, candidates are administered two separate Hindi shorthand dictations, each delivered at 100 words per minute for a duration of 5 minutes. Following each dictation, examinees are given trial time to read through their notes, after which they have 20 minutes to transcribe the passage on a computer terminal. Transcription errors are penalized under full-mistake and half-mistake deduction rules defined in the rulebook.

For the Assistant Sub Inspector (Secretarial) post, the practical test tests computer typing proficiency. Candidates are provided two distinct Hindi text passages of approximately 600 words each. A duration of 30 minutes is allocated for typing each passage on the computer. Evaluation is strictly based on electronic text input; handwritten notations or corrections are not evaluated.

Application Fee and Portal Charges

The basic examination fee for Unreserved candidates and applicants from other states is ₹500. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories who possess a valid Madhya Pradesh domicile certificate, the examination fee is ₹250.

Additional portal convenience fees are charged by MP Online: forms submitted via authorized MP Online Kiosks incur a fee of ₹60, while applications submitted through registered citizen user logins incur a fee of ₹20. Any subsequent corrections requested during the modification window are subject to separate departmental portal charges.
